AskREACH facilitates information about SVHC substances

Companies are encouraged to report information about SVHC substances to the AskREACH database behind the Scan4Chem app. This will save you time spent on responding to customer enquiries.

Consumers have the right to be informed if an article contains more than 0.1% by weight of substances of very high concern (SVHC). Enquiries must be answered within 45 days according to EU regulation. SVHC substances are also referred to as substances on the Candidate List, i.e. substances for which you may require authorisation for continued use.

AskREACH gives immediate answers
One way for consumers to easily obtain information about SVHC substances in products is by using the free app Scan4Chem. The information available in the Scan4Chem app is provided by the AskREACH database.

If companies register information about SVHC substances in their articles in the AskREACH database, consumers will get an immediate answer when using the Scan4Chem app. This means that companies do not need to spend time answering each individual enquiry about a product.

The AskREACH database and the Scan4Chem app are currently used in 15 European countries.

Is AskREACH and SCIP the same?
AskREACH should not be confused with the SCIP database, even though both databases relate to the obligation to provide information regarding content of SVHCs in articles.

Notification in the SCIP database is a regulatory requirement when articles containing SVHCs are placed on the market. AskREACH, on the other hand, is a supporting tool for companies facilitating their duty to respond to enquiries about the content of SVHC substances. Registration of information in AskREACH is optional.
