ECHA guidance on derivation of OEL limits at the workplace

ECHA’s new guidance for preparing exposure limits and occupational exposure limits (OELs) at the workplace aligns the previous two methodologies.

ECHA has published a new Guidance for preparing a scientific report for health-based exposure limits at the workplace.

The new guidance aligns the methodologies for derivation of derived no effect levels for substances (DNELs) under REACH and the SCOEL methodology for the setting of OELs under the legislation on occupational safety and health.

Having many years of experience in preparing DNELs and OELs for workers in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, DHI welcomes this new approach to harmonise methodologies across different regulatory sectors.

The harmonisation is a consequence of transferring work previously conducted by SCOEL (the Scientific Committee on Occupational Exposure Limits) to ECHA’s Risk Assessment Committee (RAC).
