Methylparaben in cosmetics

The EU's Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety has issued a new opinion on the use of methylparaben in cosmetics.

With the current focus on substances with endocrine disrupting properties and considering concerns related to potential endocrine disrupting properties in methylparaben, the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) has made a new safety assessment of the substance. 

Based on all available data, the SCCS concludes in their opinion on methylparaben that a content of 0.4% in cosmetics is considered safe for consumers. The substance is used as a preservative in cosmetics.
