The substance is used as a monomer in plastic food contact materials with a specific migration limit of 0.05 mg/kg food. It has been included on the Candidate List due to its endocrine-disrupting properties.
If 4-tert-butylphenol is included on the Authorisation List at a later date, users will need to apply for authorisation to continue using the substance.
