According to the work programme of ECHA's Biocidal Products Committee (BPC), the Committee will discuss the evaluation of the active substance ethanol by the end of November. Once the BPC has reached a conclusion, it will be up to the European Commission to take the final decision on the approval of the use of ethanol in product types (PT) 1, 2 and 4.
Product types 1, 2 and 4 include biocidal products for human hygiene, disinfectants for personal and healthcare use, and disinfectants for use in the food and feed area.
Prepare for approval of ethanol products
Although the approval of ethanol may include conditions for the use of the substance, we recommend that you start preparing now for the approval of products containing ethanol.
