Turkish KKDIK – registration deadline approaching

As of 1 January 2021, all chemical substances manufactured and imported in Turkey – on their own or in mixtures – in amounts equal to or above 1 ton/year must be registered in the Turkish chemical registration system (KKS).

Companies must either pre-register (ön-MBDF) their substances or submit a registration application for the substances before 31 December 2023. When submitting a registration application, the company will have access to the contact details of the other suppliers of the same substance and will be able to join the relevant Substance Information Exchange Forum(s) (MBDF). Companies that are included in an MBDF will be able to submit a joint registration of the substance (one substance, one dossier).

Even though it will be possible to pre-register until the 31 December 2023, after the original deadline of 31 December 2020 has expired, companies are encouraged to pre-register by the end of 2020 in order to ensure the correct implementation of the joint registration process.

Substances that are not registered by 31 December 2023 will be not allowed to be placed on the Turkish market pursuant to KKDIK, the Turkish Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Permission and Authorization of Chemicals.
