To begin with the evaluation of active substances was anticipated to be completed by May 2010. Since then the date has been postponed twice, but still more than 50% of the active substances/product type (PT) combinations have not yet been reviewed.
Lately, the EU authorities agreed to extend the review programme for active substances under the Biocidal Products Regulation until 31 December 2030.
Impact on national authorisations
If your products include biocidal active substances, you should be aware that the extended deadline may possibly affect national authorisations under transitional schemes. Information about required actions will be provided by the individual national authorities.
