First version of SCIP portal is near

ECHA is expected to launch its first portal with information from the SCIP database in September 2021.

Since 5 January 2021, it has been a requirement for all EU manufacturers, suppliers and importers of articles to submit information to the SCIP database if the article contains SVHCs on the Candidate List above 0.1% w/w.

The purpose of the SCIP database is to increase the knowledge of hazardous chemicals in articles and products throughout their whole lifecycle, but distribution of information from the database to consumers and waste operators has been delayed.

From September, ECHA is expected to launch a basic edition with limited information, including the option to search by different criteria such as substance of concern or article category.
