The European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM) has published the first edition of the technical guide “Paper and board used in food contact materials and articles”. In addition to food packaging, it covers plates and cups, tissue paper, kitchen towels, straws, napkins, baking and filter papers.
In the publication you will find guiding principles for food contact materials and articles, including requirements for the quality and safety of paper and board used in contact with food. Specific chapters give instructions on how to test compliance, detect recycled materials and how to prepare the supporting documentation and a declaration of compliance.
